About Farid Muttalib

I am a lawyer living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia. I founded Muttalib Law in 2022, after having spent several years in private practice at a litigation firm and as in-house counsel at CBC/Radio-Canada. I am a pragmatic, approachable and client-centered lawyer. My goal is to help achieve my clients' desired outcome by producing high quality legal work at an affordable rate.

I am fluently bilingual and can serve clients in both English and French.

I volunteer with Access Pro Bono, including with their Residential Tenancy Program and their Court of Appeal Program.

I obtained my law degree at McGill University, where I also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history and philosophy.

In my spare time, I can be found hiking the North Shore mountains, running around Vancouver, and travelling around different parts of British Columbia.

What I Can Do for You

I provide advice and representation primarily to employees in relation to wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal, harassment, discrimination, and non-competition and non-solicitation clauses. I can help you understand your rights and obtain appropriate compensation when  you have been wronged.

I represent individuals and businesses in a variety of areas of law, including contract, tort, landlord-tenant, human rights law, and administrative law. I am well-versed in the laws of defamation (libel and slander) and provide advice and representation to individuals involved in defamation actions.

I provide pre-publication advice and representation to media clients of varying sizes in relation to litigation, publication bans and sealing orders, and other matters. I previously practiced for 3.5 years as an in-house media lawyer at CBC/Radio-Canada.
